Arnold Rodríguez

Violoncello

Arnold Rodriguez was born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in 1993. He was drawn to music from an early age due to the musical tradition of his home. At the age of five years he began to play violoncello. Arnold has studied in Madrid, München, Oviedo and Salzburg.

His chamber music training is very extensive. He has participated in several chamber music festivals, such as the Stanford Chamber Music Festival (UK), the Austin Chamber Music Festival (USA), and the Luigi Boccherini Festival (IT), among others. In 2010, the Sarasvati Quartet was created, of which he is a founding member. With the quartet, he has won numerous chamber music competitions, including the Adolfo Salazar Competition in 2011 and 2012 and the Rotary International Competition in 2014. His principal teachers have been the Tokyo String Quartet, the Casals Quartet, the Artemis Quartet, the Emerson String Quartet, and the Vogler Quartet. He has also been a student of Gerhard Schulz (Alban Berg Quartet), Stefan Schilli, and Ferenc Rados, among others.

Arnold Rodríguez has collaborated with orchestras such as the Principality of Asturias Symphony Orchestra (OSPA) and the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra (OST) under the direction of maestros such as Victor Pablo Perez, Perry So, Rossen Milanov, Antonio Méndez, and John Holloway.

Arnold Rodríguez performs regularly in Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, and the United States. In addition to his concert career, he continues his work as an educator, teaching young quartetists and cellists.

Since 2012, he has been awarded a Chamber Music scholarship by Jeunnesses Musicales International.
